Redmi 8: Price in India

The Redmi 8 will cost Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option will cost Rs 8,999. Redmi 8 will be sold on Flipkart.com and Mi.com. However, the Redmi 8’s 4GB RAM option will be sold at Rs 7,999 for the first five million units. Sale will start on one minute past midnight on Flipkart and Mi.com.

Redmi 8: Expected price and specifications

Redmi 8 continues with Aura design seen on the Redmi 7 series. Xiaomi is calling it the Aurora Mirror design with a gradient look at the back, though the back is made of plastic. It will come in Ruby Red, Onyx Black, and Sapphire Blue. The Redmi 8 also comes P2i splash resistant coating. In the front, the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

Redmi 8 has a 6.21-inch HD+ (720p) resolution display. Redmi 8 runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor octa-core processor, which is the same as the Redmi 8A. It will come with in 3GB and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage options, with a dedicated microSD card slot and separate dual-SIM slots. The expandable storage suppport is 512GB.

Redmi 8 has a 12MP camera with Sony IMX 363 sensor. It has f/1.8 aperture and 1.4 micron Pixel size, which Xiaomi claims will ensure better, brighter and more detailed images. Redmi 8 also has a 2MP depth sensor at the back to aid Portrait shots.

It also comes with Xiaomi’s own AI scene detection technology to recognise 33 kinds of scenes and auto-tune the image for best results. The Google Lens is also embedded into the Redmi 8 camera. It comes with an 8MP camera with AI Portrait and it also comes with Face Unlock. The phone continues with a fingerprint scanner at the back as well.

Redmi 8 has a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It also comes with USB Type-C charging. However, the in-box charger comes with 10W charging, which is standard. The Redmi 8 runs Android 9 based on MIUI 9.
