Last week Asus India surprised everyone by announcing the launch date for the Asus 8Z, last year’s flagship phone in India. Today, the company finally launched the much-anticipated phone in India.

The Asus 8Z, for those who are unaware, is the Zenfone 8, which was launched globally back in June 2021. One of the features that drew everyone’s attention at the launch was the phone’s compact design and comparatively display. Let’s take a look at the specification, price, and availability.

The Asus 8Z will be available in only one configuration in India 一 8GB + 128GB, priced at Rs 42,999. The first sale of the device is scheduled for March 7 at 12pm. It will be available on Flipkart. It will be available in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver colour options.

Starting off with one of the most important features of the device, the Asus 8Z flaunts a 5.9-inch super AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate, HDR playback, and 1,100nits of peak brightness. There is also Gorilla Glass Victus on the front to protect the screen from scratches.

Under the hood, the handset is powered by Snapdragon 888 flagship processor with up to 2.84GHz clock speed and Adreno 660 GPU. The phone will be available with 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB UFS 3.1. It also supports multiple 5G network bands in India.

In terms of optics, there is a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, PFAF, and OIS. This is followed by a 12MP Sony IMX363 lens. The 64MP main camera can record up to 8K videos and up to 4K HDR and the 12MP can record up to 4K. To the front, the phone sports a 12MP Sony IMX663 dual-pixel autofocus camera. In the software, the phone runs on Android 11 out of the box in India.

The phone draws power from the 4,000mAh battery and it also supports 30W fast charging. It also brings a 3.5mm headphone, which is a rarity in the flagship range these days. Other features include a dual stereo speaker setup with sound by Dirac, support for Hi-Res audio, IP68 dust, an In-display fingerprint sensor, NavIC, and water-resistant rating. Lastly, the phone weighs 169 grams and measures 148 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm.
