Top 10 Mobile Companies of the World by Global Market Share till 2018

Talking about the top10 mobile companies, the last decade is undoubtedly the era of technological advancement especially in terms of mobile technology. Not only the number of mobile phone users across the globe has significantly soured but top market leaders of the mobile industry have been shuffled by global share and rankings.

Few new companies have also emerged and taken the mobile technology into new heights. Only in Pakistan, there are over 151 million mobile phone users as per the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Here a brief detail is being given about the market leaders of the mobile World with Samsung and Huawei among the top market leaders

The Seoulbased Samsung is considered to be the leading Mobile Company worldwide for its sale and performance. In the second quarter of 2017, itsmarket share was 22 percent. Its latest smartphones include Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S9 & S9+. However, the alarming facts are that Samsung didn’t focus much on their smartphone technologies in 2017 and 2018 which kept them back from increasing their market share

The USbased Apple Company manufactures iPhones, iPad, and other devices. In the first quarter of last year, itsmarket share was 14.7 percent. Apple’s latest devises include iPhone Xs, iPhone XR, and iPhone8.

The Chinese Company Huawei’smarket share was 10 percent in the first quarter of 2017. Huawei, successfully cruised their way up in recent years and in 2017, they were able to maintain and grow their global market share, Recently, Huawei has started taking the chunks of OPPPO’s market share. Its P Series and Mate Series such as Huawei Mate20 Pro, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei nova 3 and Huawei Y9 2019 are among the best sold cellular devices in the World. The Company also manufactures Huawei Watch GT and Huawei TalkBand B5 etc.

Another Chinabased Telecommunication Company OPPO was ranked as the number four smartphone brand worldwide, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). Its market share in the first quarter of 2017 was7.5 percent.

Over 200 million people around the globe use OPPO smartphones. OPPO’s latest devices include F9 Starry Purple, F9, OPPO Find X, F7, and A5.

Also based in China, Vivo was founded in 2009. In the second quarter of 2018,Vivo secured 7% of the market share and in 2015 it was ranked as among top 10 mobile Companies while last year, its market share was 5.5 percent. Its latest products comprise on V11 Pro, V11, V9, V9 Youth and V7. Vivo is known for their innovations like fingerprint scanner within the touch screen and much more. Vivo believes in innovation to capture the competitive market of mobile leaders of the world.

Founded in April 2010, Xiaomi manufactures smartphones, mobile apps, and laptops. In the third quarter of 2017, its global market share even reached7 percent. Xiaomi’s latest cellular devices include POCOPHONE F1, Mi Max 3, Mi 8, Mi A2 and MI MIX 2S.

Founded in December 2017, OnePlus is the youngest smartphone Company but yet it succeeded to have 28 percent market share in the fourth quarter of 2017 in India. Its smartphones include OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3.

Last year, Lenovo’s market share was 3.2 percent in the global market. Besides smartphones, it also manufactures laptops and tablets.

Nokia is among the oldest mobile phone makers, and once had a huge market in Pakistan for its classic phones including Nokia 3310, Nokia 105, and Nokia 130. In the fourth quarter of 2017, Nokia’sglobal market share was one percent. Its latest products are Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus.

In the first quarter of 2017, LG’s phone market share reached3 percent globally. Its latest mobile phones include LG V30 +, LG G6 and LG Q6.
